Of course this can add to your stress but I really think your friends getting stuck in some sort medical drama while you're talking to him is a bit weird. It sounds like they all have some medical condition that they're trying to one up each other on. Compare notes what doctors have you seen? I've got that condition also. Unfortunately they're feeding off each other’s problems. This is a circle that's probably a bit unbreakable. And to them since you probably don't have any problems you're a bit of an outcast. It can certainly be boring listening to people complain about their problems or the other people encouraging them and supporting them. I would think also if your father passed from any kind of medical condition listing to these people would be very depressing.
