The medical technologist is a caregiver who performs analytical tests on body fluids such as blood, urine, sputum, feces, cerebrospinal fluid, peritoneal fluid, pericardial fluid, synovial fluid and other specimens. The medical technologists working in clinical laboratories in hospitals, doctors, laboratories, and within the biotechnology industry. In India, Medical Laboratory Technology also called clinical laboratory science and is a health profession that deals with diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through clinical laboratory tests. These tests help doctors detect, diagnose and treat diseases.

Medical Technologist tests to determine the presence, extent or absence of disease and provide the data needed to assess the effectiveness of treatment.There two levels of medical laboratory workers – technicians and technologists. Sonographers work in five key areas of the laboratory is in the Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry (chemical analysis of body fluids), Hematology (blood related), Immunology (study of immune system) and Microbiology (study of disease and bacteria other agencies). They have more training and professional responsibilities and complex testing. In some laboratories, technicians to conduct an investigation under the supervision of medical researchers.

Medical technicians than other routine laboratory tests manually as instructed. They work under technical or supervisors.

The basic eligibility criteria for the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) is 10 2 or equivalent with science subjects. There are also Diploma / Certificate courses for laboratory technicians and assistants in general and in different specialties such as Diplomas in EEG Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Technician Histopathology, etc.

Job prospects and workspace – the career of medical technologist depends on academic and technical skills. You can also set their own laboratory.
