The Modern Medical Science: a Journey Through History
The history of medicine is very interesting. Centuries before the advent of Islam, Arabs had) their own system of medicine in the form of herbs and shrubs ( ‘Aqaqir Hashä’ish wal-based Chaldean and medicine on their own experiences. Seeing is Believing: a Century to Remember For Medical Science
It is probably fair to say that medical science is well advanced. From the discovery of penicillin by Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming in 1928, the first human to human heart transplant in South Africa, heart surgeon Christiaan Barnard in 1967, the 20th century saw some of the most important medical breakthroughs.
But while we can not deny the universal importance of Fleming and academic progress of Barnard, there were a number of other medical visionaries remarkable that we appreciate to be, some of whom may not get the credit that they deserve.
